Several of Montreal’s most prominent families have joined together in support of Sun Youth’s Building a Brighter Future Campaign. Led by Campaign co-presidents Lucy Riddell, chairperson of the R. Howard Webster Foundation and Claude Mongeau, former CEO of CN, the Campaign to build a carbon neutral community hub to house all of Sun Youth’s operations under one roof in the heart of Montréal was launched publicly on February 22nd.
The Molson Foundation, the McConnell Foundation, the J.A. DeSève Foundation, and the Rossy Foundation have each contributed $500,000 in support of the Campaign while The R. Howard Webster Foundation has committed $1 million and the Mongeau Family Foundation, in partnership with the CN Helping Hand program founded by Claude Mongeau and his wife Guylaine, has committed $1.3 million towards the project.
Ms. Riddell and Mr. Mongeau, each long-time donors to Sun Youth, said in a statement, “Individually, we’ve all been involved with Sun Youth in different ways and we’ve witnessed firsthand how Sun Youth has helped hundreds of thousands of Montrealers. That’s why we have joined together to lead this Campaign for $14 million. We believe in Sun Youth. And we believe in the importance of Building a Better Future for the generations to come.”

Since 1954, we have been taking care of Montrealers by intervening with poor individuals and families. We provide a range of emergency services to ensure their basic needs and maintain their integrity. We actively contribute to crime prevention and promote the physical and intellectual development of young people through education, sport and recreation. We are currently in a major fundraising campaign for the construction of a new carbon-neutral building from which all our services will be offered.
