From the moment I met Sid Stevens back in 1985, I began to understand the importance of Sun Youth to the community in Montreal. Anyone who has been to Sun Youth to help or avail themselves of the amazing services and volunteers there knows what a gift to the city this new location will be.

Lorsque la merveilleuse équipe de Jeunesse au Soleil m’a présenté son ambitieux projet de construction d’un immeuble communautaire vert et inclusif, je n’ai pu m’empêcher de rêver à ce lieu… Je me suis dit que ce lieu pourrait devenir un des joyaux de Montréal. Je suis très fière de m’impliquer activement pour la réalisation de ce grand rêve!

With this building, Sun Youth will get the facilities they have dreamed of one day having and will continue to offer valuable opportunities and resources for not only young athletes, but for the community at large. It’s an honour to be a spokesperson for this amazing Sun Youth project. It will have a lasting, positive impact on many lives for generations to come. With your support, we can help them reach their goal.

J’aimerais montrer que même avec un parcours atypique on peut atteindre ses objectifs. Aussi, étant issu d’une famille d’immigrants, je veux m’impliquer socialement, être un exemple et un membre actif de la communauté pour des gens qui me ressemblent et qui ne se reconnaissent pas nécessairement souvent dans notre société.

I've supported and admired Sid Stevens and Earl De La Perralle over the years for the community jewel they created with Sun Youth. If I can now help strengthen this wonderful grass-roots organization in any small way, it's my honour to do it.

Jeunesse au soleil est pour moi un organisme coup de coeur. C’est un centre communautaire qui aide à plusieurs niveaux, banque alimentaire, équipes de sport, fournitures scolaires … et dans différentes situations, l’urgence et le quotidien. Le volet sport chez les jeunes est ce qui m’a le plus impressionnée. Par le sport, on aide à garder les jeunes actifs et on favorise la persévérance scolaire, le meilleur moyen pour améliorer la qualité de vie.

Sun Youth has helped fellow citizens of Montreal when struck by difficult circumstances. Whether it is a loss of income and hungry, a fire and nowhere to go, unable to pay for heating in the cold of winter, victimized by crime or just in need of a place for children to play, Sun Youth has been ready to help through the worst and get people back up on their feet. Sid Stevens and his family cooked meals for those who could not feed themselves in 1954 and this tradition of caring has grown over time. Debbie and I understand this and we too are here to help. Please join us in building a new home for Sun Youth to continue their important contribution to our community.

When I joined my law firm, Borden Ladner Gervais, in Fall of 1987, the first solicitation that I received from a partner was a request to contribute to Sun Youth’s Christmas Fund. I told the partner that I was very tight financially. The partner responded that I already belonged to the luckiest members in society by being employed in a large law firm and it was my duty to give back. I always took this advice seriously. I have since always felt a moral duty to give back and Sun Youth helps in so many ways, it is difficult not wanting to be part of their marvellous efforts and to help them help others in need.

J'ai toujours admiré l’approche de Jeunesse au Soleil centrée sur l'engagement sportif des jeunes et l'aide aux familles dans le besoin. Personnellement, j'ai pu constater l'impact de Jeunesse au Soleil auprès des jeunes, grâce à l'implication de mon fils dans l'équipe de football des Hornets, depuis 2021. Jeunesse au Soleil est un organisme extraordinaire qui fait la différence dans notre grande communauté montréalaise, doté d’une équipe engagée qui accomplit des miracles jour après jour, que ce soit pour des services d’urgence ou communautaires.

I’ve had the privilege of witnessing how the Sun Youth staff and volunteers make a positive difference with at-risk youth and families. Their good work motivates me to do what I can to support Sun Youth.

Mon engagement auprès de Jeunesse au Soleil me rend très fière. Pouvoir contribuer activement à la campagne majeure de financement de leur nouveau centre communautaire carboneutre m’enthousiasme au plus haut point. C’est un privilège de faire partie de cette fabuleuse équipe et je suis impatiente de voir ce projet rassembleur aller de l’avant!
